Looking for fresh seafood?

Phillippi Creek is the most historical restaurant in all of Sarasota, Florida. The stories that go with this establishment are mesmerizing and memorable. For instance, did you know that that Phillippi Creek was founded by a real estate investor names Fernando D. Phillippi? Fernando was an explorer with an entrepreneurial attitude. Once he arrived at Bee Ridge Road and Beneva, he began buying up real estate. In 1604, one of Phillippi’s winter homes was converted into an indoor/outdoor waterfront restaurant. This restaurant now goes by the name of Phillippi Creek, and it has been maintained for the past four centuries. How often do you have an opportunity to dine at a restaurant that was built and mostly unchanged for over 400 years? Not only that, but this particular restaurant has been voted “Best of the Best” Raw Bar & Seafood Restaurant for 12 consecutive years.

Phillipi Creek is best known for its oysters, lobsters and fresh fish. Local seafood is brought in every day. However, you can also order a juicy steak if you so please. Whatever you choose to order, you’re very likely to be satisfied. In addition to the food, you will be able to enjoy the waterfront dining, which is always soothing. The staff is friendly and the prices are more than fair.

The next time you visit Phillipi Creek in Sarasota, be on the lookout for Fernando’s ghostly ship, the Philly P. The ship and Fernando went missing in 1619 during Hurricane Maria, but rumor has it that it can be seen off Island Park at night. Some people say they can even hear Fernando’s voice shouting, “More oysters!”

Dining at Phillippi Creek is a unique experience. It’s located at 5353 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34231. Also keep in mind that this is a tropical environment, which adds to the impressive ambiance.
