Finding Great Seafood is Easier Than You Think

Looking for great seafood in Sarasota, Florida is easier than you think. Located on US Route 41 at Phillippi Creek and mile marker 72 from the Intracoastal Waterway is the Phillippi Creek Village Oyster Bar, which is a seafood lovers paradise. Built in 1604 by Fernando Phillippi, the building was originally the Phillippi family home. Fernando disappeared during a hurricane in 1619.

The restaurant, which specializes in seafood, has an immense menu that would be favorable to anyone craving a casual dining atmosphere at it’s best. With enough choices to please the whole family, there is a children’s menu offering kid’s favorites.

Either dine in the cozy main dining room or opt for a tropical view outside in time to watch the sunset. Phillippi Creek Village Oyster Bar also has a full service bar for those of you who may want to match a wine, champagne or beer with your dinner.

For those who want to come and sample the appetizers, we will refer to the menu to show the highlights this restaurant has to offer. On the appetizer menu, there are many different ways to enjoy oysters, calamari, clams and shrimp. Choose your favorite way for preparation; cooked or not. For those of you who like a challenge, fried gator may be just your thing! Begin your evening with an appetizer, fresh soup or salad.

The main menu includes a vast variety of choices. For lighter appetites, the sandwich board has fresh chicken and fish sandwiches. For heartier appetites, the fish combination dinners are enough for two to share, as they come with two ears of corn and plenty of seafood. Imagine your choice of either sea scallops, lobster tail, Alaskan king crab or snow stone crab as the bottom layer, with a topping of two dozen oysters or one half pound of shrimp.

There is also a platter including various fish stuffed with crab stuffing. The charbroiled section of the menu provides diners with grilled or broiled steak, grouper, chicken and kabobs. The pasta section features seafood fettuccine, with a choice of either shrimp or lobster and chicken.

Best of all, the Phillippi Creek Village Oyster Bar has heart healthy selections.

For those of you who like to read descriptions about the types of fish that are available, a fresh fish glossary is included on the menu.

Voted best raw bar for twelve years in a row!
